Arkush says the series, which begins shooting its next 25 episodes on May 1, will return with a bang post-Olympics, with the first and second episodes airing back-to-back. "We're picking up exactly where we left off," he says. "There will be some huge surprises." One change viewers will notice is a new series regular. Though Arkush remained mum on the subject, he did talk about the types of characters that will be making an appearance. "There will be characters coming that you've heard about."

"Villains" will take center stage in the upcoming episodes, as well as the nature of these villains being set loose. "It will be really clear who these villains are," says Arkush. "These are not necessarily characters you've met already. Obviously, there's going to be a lot of Sylar." Will some familiar faces clumped into this category? "One of the things that strikes me as so interesting about the show ("Company Man") was when H.R.G. says, 'I'm very comfortable in the morally grey area,'" says Arkush. "Think about that. Just like when Nathan and Linderman were going to destroy New York for reasons they thought were correct. And who on the show seems to be able to make very hard decisions and has grown as a character? One of those people is Angela (Petrelli)."

Hiro, Claire, Peter, Sylar, & Mohinder stopped into NBC ’s famous offices at 30 Rock today when Mezco toys delivered the prototypes for the new Heroes action figures which are scheduled to be in stores in mid June. Generally, prototypes are never seen by the general public, but because of the overwhelming interest in the Heroes action figure line, NBC will be adding the prototypes of the Heroes figures to their popular studio tour.

"Heroes" earned a 6.6 rating/9 share, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, enough for second place in the 9 p.m. hour behind "Two and a Half Men" and "Rules of Engagement" on CBS. It made easy work of season breakout hit "Samantha Who?" which scored a 5.0/7 without its "Dancing With the Stars" lead-in, as well as "Notes from the Underbelly," which had just 3.8/6.

Thanks to "Heroes," NBC was able to pick up a win in the key advertising demographic of adults 18 to 49, with a 3.6, according to Zap2it. That was well ahead of the 3.0 earned by CBS, which had actually won the night in overall viewership.

The climax of the first series of US hit show Heroes has attracted a peak audience of 3.4m on BBC Two.
The superhero drama's viewing figures were down almost one million compared to the opening episode in July.

The series became a ratings and critical success in the US when it started in 2006, but failed to win any Emmy Awards despite eight nominations.

Creator Tim Kring recently apologised for a slow start to the second season, which has suffered falling US ratings.

NBC's only real bright light shined a little brighter Monday earning a 6.7 rating/10 share according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. That is up slightly over the 6.6 earned the previous week, and was enough to take third place behind comedies on CBS and "Samantha Who?" on ABC, but was able to win the hour in the key demographic of adults 18 to 49.

For the night, NBC finished third with a 5.2/8, but finished just behind CBS and ABC in the key 18-to-49 age demographic.
