Out of time So am I. Well, almost. Sorry for taking so long to review/commentarize this episode.
I just watched it again with my mother, and though I did not take notes as I did with "Fight or Flight." I think I am a bit better to commentarize than before.
Great episode! Out of time... The name fits.
Hiro in the past...
Hiro and the dragon. The tale of myth mixed with truth, figuative a literal in verse. Quite nice. Hiro broke his heart leaving Kaito.
A 300 year plus love triangle, causing trouble. 300 plus years of evolution. Bob told Matt that his powers will evolve. 300 plus years is a lot... |

Yaeko: "You must concentrate! You have to get us out of here!" Hiro: "Why is everything so purple?"
Wow. This one impressed me. A lot of good storytelling, a lot of resolution, and a lot of new direction. We even saw most of the 8/8 paintings come to life. In fact, this episode was so jam-packed that at one point Dan said to me, "This one just keeps on going, doesn't it?"
Future New York: How much of what Peter saw will come true? I'm assuming that 93% of the world's population won't actually die of the plague (sounds a bit like "The Stand" by Stephen King, doesn't it) and that Peter and Nathan won't die. But will Mohinder kill Noah? And if Mohinder is no longer the cure, who is? Bob thought it was Claire. Peter? Possibly Maya and/or Alejandro? If it's like last season, it might just be everyone.

A Tent, Whitebeard's Camp: Hiro comes to and finds himself strapped to a board with his head over a smoking bowl. Kensai stands over him. Yaeko and her father are chained behind him. Hiro can't stop time with his head over a bowl of opium. Whitebeard's promised him half the country and Yaeko in return for Hiro's capture. Kensai agreed, although Yaeko swears she will never love him. Hiro reminds him that he's supposed to be a hero, but Kensai figures that after he leads Whitebeard's armies to victory, he'll be the greatest hero in Japanese history. . . which he's going to change.
Warehouse, Odessa Ukraine: Noah takes pictures of Isaac's paintings while the Haitian stands by. One painting is of Hiro swordfighting with Kensai. One is of Jessica pounding on a wall or door. One is Noah dead. One of a hand holding a test tube. One of Mohinder with a bandaged nose and tears in his eyes holding a smoking gun. One is of Peter and another man (Nathan?) behind glass on which is a biohazard sticker. He calls Mohinder, who's in Molly's room in the Company Hartsdale NY facility to ask about the gun. Mohinder doesn't have one. Noah needs Mohinder to help him make sense of the paintings. Mohinder can't help. They've given him a partner, and they're watching him. Noah presses, stressing that his family is in danger, but Mohinder refuses. They were supposed to take down the Company together, but Mohinder is no longer sure of Noah's agenda. Mohinder ends the call abruptly when Niki appears. Bob wants to see them. Back in the warehouse, Noah sets fire to the paintings.

Wandering Rocks Pub, Cork, Ireland: Time has passed. The police have put up crime scene tape around a chalk outline on the floor (wouldn't that normally be around the building?) where Ricky's body lay. Caitlin stares at a picture of her brother while Peter apologizes again. Caitlin brushes it off. Ricky knew what he was doing. Peter's going to find the woman who did it, find out who she is and what she wants. He's going to start in Montreal because his plane ticket and his painting both point there. Caitlin's coming with him, against his protests, because she was in the painting too. She wants to be there when Peter finds the woman, because Caitlin's going to kill her. |

Cop: "I don't suppose you saw a flying masked man this evening?"
It wasn't so much about "the line"; it was about crossing it. Several of our cast made bad decisions, with even worse possible consequences.
1671 Japan: Just when I thought I was bored with this plotline, it got really interesting. Ending the rule of the Samurai before its time could have an enormous ripple effect. Did Hiro just change history? Did he fracture time with just a kiss? I also realized why they cast David Anders as Kensei. He's been something of a drunken doofus until this point, but he might have just turned into Sark. It's impossible to tell what he'll do next, but Hiro is in serious trouble. The world may be, too.

Fight or Flight and Molly's Dream
First up...sweet episode...
Mohinder's commentary. I just hope he will be okay to do some more. Both Bob and HRG have promised his safety, but with Noah dead in a painting and Bob being from the Company it is worrisome.
Molly caught in a nightmare. After viewing chapter 56 of the graphic novel, let's say it is scary stuff. Matt is shot in four places thought it look like it is by glass, Mohinder is pinned to the ceiling like he was in Parasite and then bed turns into a cockroach. The cockroach takes her out the window where she meets up with Sylar.

I'd like to say that I missed Mohinder's voiceovers during the hiatus, but I'd be lying.
Suresh Apartment, Brooklyn: Mohinder's set Molly up in her bed with an I.V. She's lying there, unconscious and feverish. They can't take her to a hospital because no hospital is equipped to handle her problem. Mohinder's angry that Matt asked her to find his dad. Now Matt's got to find him because it's the only clue they have to what's wrong with Molly. Matt's reluctant, but Molly's given him Dad's address and has faced her nightmares for Matt. It's time for Matt to do the same. As he's about to leave, Matt remembers Angela Petrelli must have known his father too.
Burger Bonanza, New Orleans: Police examine the scene of the crime while Monica sweeps up and Camille fills salt and pepper shakers. One of the cops asks her to I.D. the man who tried to rob the place, pulling out a picture of Lionel Stills, a local gang banger. Monica claims that everything's a blur. It all happened too fast. Camille nods approval in the background. The cop understands. They don't want trouble, but Stills has hit three other burger joints and the only way he can be taken off the streets is if someone becomes a hero and identifies him. Monica declines. He can't help a neighborhood that won't help itself, but hands over his card, and leaves. |

Hiro: "It's like living in a storybook. Only more tiring."
The "really scary villain" club just got two new members.
Cork, Ireland: So Peter essentially just got Caitlin's brother killed. So much for that little romance. The question of whether Veronica Mars would be good or evil has been answered; she's petulant, out of control, and viciously homicidal, and I'm really glad they didn't show her electrocuting Caitlin's brother. Who's "Daddy"? Bob Midas? Another of the original Twelve? It can't be Nathan this time, because he was busy being totally confused in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia: Nightmare Parkman seemed so innocuous at first, but he was a smiling, deceptive, scary, evil bastard. As he told Matt, mind reading leads to "other things." Other things such as Matt and Nathan, trapped in their own minds, experiencing their greatest fears. |

I didn't rewatch this except for a few scenes so excuse the fact that this will not be as through as possible. The DirecTV with the DVR is in use at the moment and this weekend I have a wedding to go too. (I love weddings)
So, I am going to wing it. I mean I have been chatting about this episode the last few days at Heroes-TV.com anyway.
Episode impression and fanatic whining...
Nathan...he goes and see his boys in what looks like a private school in Washington DC. I am skipping an ahead here, but omg...Matt's dad is less than two hours away in Philadelphia!?!

Bennet House, Costa Verde California: Noah sits in the kitchen and stares at the image on his laptop showing Claire in someone's arms while Noah lies on the floor with a bullet where one eye ought to be. Sandra enters with Mr. Muggles under one arm. She notices his expression as he closes the laptop and he asks her if Claire's met anyone. . . like a boy or something. The wrong person could be disastrous for their family. Claire herself comes downstairs and they ask her. If there is someone, Noah would like to meet them. She hesitates, but denies any involvement.
Suresh Apartment, Brooklyn, New York: Molly wakes up screaming and Matt rushes in to comfort her. Mohinder follows a moment later. Matt puts her back to bed then he and Mohinder move to a corner of the room. It's getting worse, she's having two a night now and when Matt tries to hear her thoughts, he keeps getting thrown back. They don't know what to do. Mohinder sits with her while Matt goes to get her a drink of water.
