Greg Grunberg : Greg Grunberg In 'Star Trek XI' ? He's Not Telling.

Posted by HeroesFan on 2008/1/28 13:53:53 (925 reads)
Greg Grunberg

Greg Grunberg is friends with J.J. Abrams, who is the director for the upcoming "Star Trek XI." Abrams is known for casting actors whom he is familiar with in his projects.

There has been speculation that Grunberg might be appearing in the upcoming movie, but when asked about it this past Saturday he had this to say:

Quote:

"Why would you be asking me," Grunberg joked with the crowd attending FX Show in Orlando Saturday. "Every time I answer this question, I get into so much trouble. I answer it as vaguely as I can, but I still get that call from Paramount."

...

"You will see some of the actors that J.J. likes to work with in the movie," Grunberg said. "I'm not talking about me in particular, but you will see some great cameos. You'll never know who the people are, but they are all fans of the [Star Trek] shows, fans of the movies, and called up J.J. asking to be in the movie. "They were monster celebrities from all over, and he's put them all in disguises and put them into his movie."

Greg Grunberg : Greg Grunberg to Host NBC Fall Lineup Preview

Posted by HeroesFan on 2007/8/10 12:32:08 (622 reads)
Greg Grunberg

NBC will be offering broadcast and online versions of an advanced sneak peak of it's Fall series lineup. The 30 minute program is slated to air between August 11th and September 23rd on various media platforms and it will be hosted by our favorite mind reading cop Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman).

Quote:

In addition, cable, satellite and telco affiliates can offer consumers a two-week advance screening of "Bionic Woman," "Chuck," "Life" and "Journeyman" in standard definition, as well as in high definition. The on-demand and broadband offering will also include behind-the-scenes segments for "Bionic Woman" and "Life"; two-minute previews of four new NBC Fall shows; a two-minute preview of "Heroes"; one exclusive scene from "The Office" and "30 Rock," and five "Chuck" viral videos.

Among the new and returning stars that will appear on the special are Kevin McKidd, Gretchen Egolf and Moon Bloodgood (all from the new drama "Journeyman"), Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi (both from the new drama "Life"), Brian Baumgartner and Angela Kinsey (both from "The Office"), Michelle Ryan ("Bionic Woman"), and Zachary Levi, Joshua Gomez and Yvonne Strahovski (all from "Chuck").

Greg Grunberg : Greg Grunberg with Details of Seasons 2 & 3, plus earlier DVD release date!

Greg Grunberg

Elaine Liner has a blog with the scoop (but does Greg have the correct info?!?):Quote:

HEROES: Co-star Spills Second Season Secrets
How appropriate that tantalizing tidbits about HEROES would be revealed in the midnight hour.

On the syndicated late-night radio show Loveline, actor Greg Grunberg, who plays the telepathic policeman Matt Parkman on the NBC-Universal series (airing its finale at 8 p.m. Monday, May 21), chatted with host Dr. Drew Pinsky about what's coming up on the show. The season-ender, he said, will "set up the second season perfectly." One main plot turn will see the cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere) having to choose between "someone she loves and saving thousands of lives."

NBC-Universal has picked up the show for 23 episodes in its sophomore season. Intriguingly, Grunberg said the network is talking about running the series year-round in season three. That would be a huge commitment to a one-hour show that already uses six showrunners to juggle the dozen overlapping plotlines, location shoots and special effects featured on every episode.

The second season will be dubbed HEROES: Generations, said Grunberg. The plotlines will go back in time to tell the stories of the parents of each "hero" and how they came by their extraordinary powers. (Sounds a bit like the flashback storytelling technique of Lost, doesn't it?)

And has been seen in the show's final three episodes this season, Grunberg's character, Parkman, goes to the dark side in the future. "We'll find out why that happens. There's an event that changes everything for him," said the actor.

Talking about his co-stars, Grunberg was particularly laudatory of the work of actress Ali Larter, who plays the dual roles of Niki and Jessica Sanders. And he gushed about Noah Gray-Cabey, who plays young "technopath" Micah Sanders. The 11-year-old is an accomplished concert pianist. Said Grunberg. "He's just amazing."

The best news from Grunberg is that the first season of Heroes will be out on DVD just a few weeks after the last episode airs. For each hour, cast, writers and directors provided commentary. Those have been viewable online at NBC Rewind. (All first-season episodes and commentaries are still available there.)

Smart move to get the DVD out as soon as possible. And those commentaries frequently contain info that fills in or explains confusing plot details. They also offer background on just how hard it is to make this complicated show week to week. You might say it's a heroic effort.
Update: DVDActive has the new dvd release date scoop, along with some preliminary dvd cover art:

Update: Greg has also created a Heroes Artwork Auction, where people can
bid on autographed collector’s edition artwork from the show. More
information can be found here. Eric R. Hargis, president and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation, says of the auction,
We are thankful that Greg Grunberg, inspired by his own real-life
hero, his son Jake, who has epilepsy, has joined with us to increase
awareness of epilepsy. With the help of Greg, those like him, and
partners like NBC, we can end the stigma associated with epilepsy in
this generation.

Meanwhile, the First National Walk for Epilepsy, chaired by Greg yesterday, was declared a success with a 5,000-plus person turnout and raised more than one million dollars.
CBB reader Tracy also directs us to Greg’s charity, the Pediatric Epilepsy Project at UCLA, and the
celebrity-made cards available for purchase that will benefit the cause.

Greg Grunberg : A.V. Club interview with GG, with ep 20 spoiler!

Greg Grunberg

The A.V. Club has an interview with Greg Grunberg, with the theme of "sidekicks", and near the end of it, Greg tells a little bit about a very future episode (20), along with maybe actually posting a comment about the article. The whole interview's pretty informative (and kinda in-depth, actually), and you also learn how long he and J.J. Abrams have known each other, if you didn't know already.

Greg Grunberg : Will Greg Grunberg Live Long and Prosper?

Greg Grunberg

Quote:

Greg Grunberg, who plays the mind-reading cop Matt Parkman in the NBC series Heroes, is great friends with J.J. Abrams. Grunberg was a regular on Abrams’ television series Alias and had a cameo in his buddy’s big screen directorial debut, Mission Impossible III. With Abrams now working on the script of Star Trek XI, an on-screen role for Grunberg in the 23rd Century seems like a distinct possibility.
Given Parkman’s talents, the logical role for Grunberg would seem to be as a Vulcan. In the Star Trek universe that race is renowned for its mind-melding capabilities. Apparently that is exactly what Grunberg would like to be, according to an article on the website Rotten Tomatoes.
“I’d love to be a Vulcan, it’d be great,” Grunberg said. “That would be incredible. I don’t want to sit through too much makeup though. That’s the one thing I’m worried about, but we’ll see.”
Grunberg also had good news for Trekkers who are eagerly awaiting updates on Star Trek XI. The film is scheduled for a 2008 release and it sounds like Abrams is almost done putting the finishing touches to the script.
“He’s finalizing the script right now so I just talked to him today and he said, ‘I’ll send it to you as soon as it’s done,’ so hopefully it’ll be very soon,” Grunberg said.
