Greg Beeman : Greg Beeman's Latest Blog Entry

Last night?s was episode 11, which in some ways is the end of the first chapter of the first season. After last night we stop airing new episodes until late January.

It?s actually amazing that we?ve gotten that many episodes on the air in a row. I?ve worked on a lot of TV and - on any show that premieres in late September or early October - I?ve never seen one that got more that 9 on the air. Most 1 hour shows on TV shoot for eight shooting days? more or less 10 working days. A new episode airs every 7 days. The math of all this catches up to you, until there?s less and less time per episode to edit, do music and sound effects and visual effects. Add to that the fact that HEROES usually shoots for 10 or 12 days and it gets even worse.

Everyone who works in post production kicked butt on this ? I?ll single out Donn Aron the editor - he did an amazing job in a short amount of time ? and did some particularly inventive things in Peter?s dream sequence and in the scene where Matt interrogates Peter? Look for all the hidden jump cuts and speed-ups as the two guys try to read each other?s minds?. Hats off also to Lori Motyer the co-producer who is in charge of all things in post production. There was less than a week from the time Allan Arkush and the editor locked picture for Lori to color time the show, on-line it, oversee the sound mix and the visual affects and make sure that it physically got finished

Come on Zach... remember!!

Okay, so apparently the Cheerleaders have decided to play some kind of prank on me and have managed to get my myspace password. My account seems to have been all messed with, stuff missing, stuff added. It wouldn't be so obvious if Claire wasn't suddenly in my top friends and she didn't make me meet her on the field and talk like she was on crystal meth. Anyway, I'm glad the girls still have time to mess with people even though one of their friends was just murdered. Really classy.

A lot of people seem to be in on this prank too with comments and stuff, I'm glad you all think this is funny. I guess everyone deals with tragedy in different ways.

There are some mentions about finding a tape and some comments about Claire. To be honest it's all a bit bizarre and has some semblance of familiarity, definitely weirding me out.

I'm off to get a bite at the burnt toast diner, maybe someone'll be there to desecrate the memorial to the waitress that died. Nothing would surprise me in this town anymore

The final episode of the year for hot rookie "Heroes" combined with another dominant perf by gameshow "Deal or No Deal" to lead NBC to an easy primetime ratings victory on the first Monday in December. The Peacock led the broadcast nets among young adults on a Monday for the 10th time in 12 weeks this season.

According to affiliate-based preliminary nationals from Nielsen, "Deal or No Deal" kicked things off for the Peacock with an easy victory at 8 (5.0 rating/13 share in adults 18-49, 17.2 million viewers overall), doubling the net's performance on the night a year ago with "Surface." That led into "Heroes" (6.5/15 in 18-49, 15.0 million viewers overall), as the season's No. 1 new program delivered winning scores with its fall finale.

Episode Recaps

Heroes fans now know what we Gilmore Girls fans have known all along: Milo Ventimiglia is the bomb.

How great were the last five minutes of tonight's episode? Or for that matter, every minute of tonight's episode? So great that I'm not sure how we'll all make it till the next new episode--January freaking 22-but damnit, we're gonna try.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: This show just keeps getting better.

Oooh. But before I carry on with more mad raving, I suppose we should all have a moment of silence for our beloved pixie Stinkerbell/Eden, who met an untimely death tonight.

And it may indeed have been untimely. Don't forget the scoop I told you before--that producers decided to kill off a certain Hero earlier than expected, because the actor's agents were playing hardball in contract negotiations.

When I met up with Adrian Pasdar last week, he joked about this, saying playfully, ?We all are on our best behavior. In fact, we are all depositing $20 into the producers jar when we go to work.?

The Buzz : All I Can Say Is WOW

The Buzz

Wow what an episode! I can't believe we have to wait seven weeks to get more Heroes! I debated taking down the 'next episode counter' because it is so depressing. Here are a few questions that I have after just watching "Fallout".

  • Why did the Haitian defect?

  • WTF was that monster thing Hero was doing battle with in Isaac's painting?

  • Will H.R.G. need to replace Eden with a new 'hero'?

  • Won't Zach wonder what the hell is going on when he reads his own MySpace blog?
  • Are YOU on the list?
