Episode Recaps : Going Postal Webisode Part 1: A Nifty Trick

Episode Recaps

Part 1. A Nifty Trick

Echo: " Next time, don't mess with the mailman."

So here I am, dutifully reviewing (or more accurately, synopping) a three and a half minute webisode.

This first part introduced letter carrier Echo DeMille (Kiko Ellsworth), who is running from someone we don't see. He is stopped by a cliche -- a vicious, barking dog. He tries to reason with the dog, but ends up having to defend himself. Which he does by screaming "Back off!" at it. His voice is amplified tremendously in that Heroes sort of way. The dog slinks off, tail figuratively between his legs. (It was Doberman; their tales are pretty tiny.)

Two Company guys approach Echo. It's the usual Company team of one gifted guy with one normal guy. The normal guy gives Echo the usual Company spiel about helping him control his powers, but Echo isn't having any. The gifted guy, a creepy-looking bald guy called Constrictor, wraps his arms around Echo. (Clearly, Constrictor didn't get that name for no reason.) Echo uses his super voice again to get free, and runs away.

Normal-looking Company guy is on the ground, bleeding from the ears and with cuts all over the place. Constrictor shoots him dead and calls Bob, saying something like, "It's worse than we thought." Constrictor sees the cell phone that Echo dropped on the ground and picks it up; there's a picture on it of Echo and his girlfriend. Uh oh.

So much for part 1,

'HEROES' WEBISODES PREMIERE ON NBC.COM ON JULY 14th

BURBANK, Calif. – July 10, 2008 – NBC.com today announced that the "Heroes" webseries "Going Postal" will go live on Monday, July 14th at 3pm (ET) on NBC.com. The first series of webisodes for this popular NBC drama includes integrated sponsors Nissan and Sprint. The announcement was made by Vivi Zigler, President, NBC Universal Digital Entertainment.

"The teams involved, from the show to the studio and the digital group, really hit a home run with these webisodes," said Zigler. "Fans of 'Heroes' are going to find a satisfying installment that sets them up perfectly for the third season."

In "Going Postal," the first series of "Heroes" webisodes, users will get an early glimpse of a new character with special powers and watch his destiny begin to unfold. The fast-paced, twist-filled web series sets fans on a path that leads to the explosive premiere of the third season of "Heroes" on NBC this fall.

In the first webisode, "A Nifty Trick," Echo DeMille, an everyday mailman, discovers a startling ability that quickly makes him a target.

In the second webisode, "The Houseguest," posting on July 21st, Echo races home to protect his girlfriend Gina, and finds deadly uses for his new ability.

In the third webisode of this installment, "Let's Talk," which posts on July 28th, Echo sends Gina off to safety while he confronts his enemies, but the tables turn with an unexpected twist.

BBC secures lifetime rights to 'Heroes'

The BBC has picked up the lifetime rights to air Heroes in the UK.

The broadcaster has signed a deal with US studio NBC Universal to show all future seasons of the cult drama, staving off a potential rival bid from Sky.

"As long as Heroes is on in the US, we will show Heroes," BBC acquisitions head George McGhee told Digital Spy. "It's a long-term partnership, and I think that was the right thing to do. [NBC] are really pleased that we've got Heroes - and they don't want it going to a commercial broadcaster."

The BBC plans to air the upcoming third season on BBC Two and BBC Three from late September, just days after its US broadcast.
