Movieweb has a detailed transcription of a conference call with Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg and Tim Kring.
Here is a little snippit:
I was wondering if you could expound a little about what are the joys and the rewards and the perils of writing a serial show for such an ensemble cast. Do you have like the whole story mapped in your head and just paste the narration in chapters or so how will you go about it?
Tim Kring: One of the, you know, the challenges is obviously to keep a lot of stories going at the same time. That's a very, very big challenge. But, you know, one of the fun things is again, we do know where we're going but watching characters develop and taking them in places that even you didn't expect because the room is a very - the writers' room is a very interesting place because ideas morph and bend and become very different things when you start filtering through lots of people's ideas.
And the one frustrating thing about writing a big serialized show is that any change that you come up with has a kind of domino effect so you - it forces you to be very diligent about what you're trying to tell. And balancing how much story with how much character development is also a challenge. But so far, we seem to be finding more sort of treasures out of this than pitfalls.
Note: this is the same conference call that we talked about a little over a week ago.

Timn Kring told SciFi Wire that there will be a season-long arc involving the hunt for a serial killer with super powers.
"We are bringing in other people with super powers, and they are not necessarily heroes," Kring said. "The show does introduce the concept of a major villain in the second episode, and that villain becomes a sort of a linchpin, a central character for most of the first season."
--- Possible Spoilers Highlight To Read --- "He's recruited by this FBI agent, the character that Clea plays," Grunberg said. "They become this team, sort of like a Mulder and Scully of 'The X-Files.' And what's great is that this side of the story -- investigating the villain and trying to figure out who he is, what his motives are, why these people are being affected and what's going on -- what's great is, the audience will have a lot of these questions, and my character is going to discover them and hopefully answer those questions and be the eyes of the audience."
The heroes of "Heroes" may not remain good guys, Grunberg warned.
"Don't assume that every one of these characters is good," Grunberg said. "That's something so interesting. As actors, co-star Masi Oka and I have had this conversation where we're thinking, 'Are we going to be good? Are we going to realize, "Wow, these powers: They're empowering me to such a way that I can use it for evil purposes?' I mean, we have no idea whether we're going to go good, go bad. It's just so interesting to see what somebody would do given these abilities." --- End Possible Spoilers ---

Greg Grunberg, one of the stars of NBC's upcoming superhero drama Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that he trying to get into shape because it fits his role as a police officer who develops psychic powers. "[Creator and executive producer Tim Kring] keeps telling me to eat more doughnuts and don't lose so much weight," Grunberg said in an interview. "[But] I want to get into great shape. I mean, for health reasons I think it's great, but I've always wanted to just get into much better shape, and I'm going to take this opportunity to do that with this character."

I said ?You know what the tag line is on the poster? ?Some people are meant for something more?, which not only suggests that most people aren?t meant for a hell of a lot, but no Black people in the show suggests that no Black people are meant for ?something more?.
Joe has a "column" over at comixtreme in which he apparently makes the claim that the show is racist. I say apparently because he seems to ramble on quiet a bit and is hard to follow. The rant seems to be more of a forum post than a "column", but whatever. I thought Heroes fans might want to know that some (at least one) people feel this way about the show.

J.J. Abrams, a producer behind a slew of shows on ABC, thinks NBC's "Heroes" is going to slay the competition.
That's according to his good friend and ("good luck charm") Greg Grunberg, who plays a cop who can read the thoughts of others on "Heroes."
"I talk to him every single day," said Grunberg, "and he said to me, 'I'm telling you, "Heroes" is going to be a huge hit.'"
So it's a good thing "Heroes" isn't airing opposite one of Abrams' shows - ABC's "Lost," "What About Brian" and "Six Degrees" - or it could spell the end of a beautiful friendship.
Grunberg and Abrams have known each other since childhood. Abrams, whose stock has risen considerably since the days of "Felicity," has put Grunberg in virtually every one of his projects, including "Mission: Impossible III," "Brian" and "Lost." And he would have put him in "Six Degrees," which premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. after "Grey's Anatomy."
But said, Grunberg, "I'm a little busy right now."

SciFi.com has an article talking about the Heroes online comic which will accompany the new series at NBC.com. Tim Kring says that the web comic will become an integral part of the show. "Just to give a little spoiler to everybody, the audience should look for the idea of the comic book to play a huge part internally inside the show".
The web comic will be updated weekly concurrently with the series and will have relevance to the episode airing that week.
For more info on the Heroes Web Comic read the full article linked below.

Taz over at sepiamutiny.com made a post about what a hunk Sendhil is and how she can't wait for Heroes to start so she can drool over him and his accent.
I suppose everyone will have a favorite hero who they will endlessly pine over in cyber space. I think we might have to make a community poll out of this one.
*runs off to look for some Ali Larter gossip*

Averagejoe over at KomiKazee.com is really on the ball with Heroes related tidbits today. He posts that he just got off a conference call for Heroes that lasted about 90 minutes. News outlets from around the world including Brazil and France were represented by reporters on the line. While familiar names Greg Grunberg, Tim Kring and Masi Oka represented the series.
Average joe posts the key points of the conversation:
- Episodes 2 & 3 would be sent out to members of the press this week.
- Greg likes the idea that Matt has the ability to read people?s minds because it?s not something you?d always want to do. Sure it?s cool to get an insight into different people?s minds, but with the good comes the bad. A person?s mind isn?t always a good place to be.
- Masi wished he could have the Midas touch as a kid because his allowance was only a quarter which meant one shot at the arcades. "If I had the Midas touch I could?ve picked up a stone and been set for a good while" Masi says.
- Tim Kring admits that if he could choose one power from the show to have it would be flight. "There?s just something about flight that I think appeals to us all....the freedom would be amazing."
- Greg says the character of Matt Parkman has the best power a cop could have - information. Matt?s dream is to become a detective but due to his dyslexia he is unable to focus like he would need. Once he discovers his powers he decides to keep them a secret for the time being because he?s unsure how people would react. "Matt doesn?t even know how to control them, so how do you think someone would react to him saying ?hey I can hear people?s thoughts??"
- The characters will have interactions, but the premise of a ?team? is not something that?s likely to show up. The show is focused more on how these characters will cross paths, and not how they?ll team up to use their abilities.
- Greg Grunberg says "Don?t assume everyone on the show is good. Masi and I are still wondering if our characters will be good from episode to episode."
- A major villain will be introduced in the show?s second episode. This character will play a major role over the course of the first season.
- Masi says he enjoys reading the scripts because of the excitement. "For every question the show asks, they provide an answer, and then they ask another question. It?s very exhilirating...it?s like a rollercoaster ride. When I get them, I can?t wait to find out what happens!"
- Heroes will be unlike a lot of other shows on TV that have 3-4 episodes that really don?t have much in them. "When you watch Heroes, something will happen each week" says Tim Kring. "It?s almost like the deal we made with the audience. They tune in and we give them what they want."
- One character will have a very different look for at least one episode.
