In an article titled "Isn't Hiro irresistible?" Michael Slezak explains how Hiro is one of his favorite new characters on TV this season.

Michael also has a list of "burning questions" about the first three episodes of Heroes

Quote:

  • Why did the ''previously on Heroes'' voiceover paint the show as a tale of ''five strangers across the globe'' and then go on to describe seven folks and their superpowers?

  • How come Niki's shovel was so glisteningly silver, even after she'd buried the baddies' bodies in the desert?

  • Anyone else wondering about the similarities in the names of Heroes' murderous morpher Sylar and Battlestar Galactica's villainous Cylons?

  • Does drug-addicted artist Isaac also have the power to regenerate? When I watched an advanced screener of the pilot episode, it appeared he'd cut off his own hand with a saw, but since then, he's been a two-fisted predictor of the future. Did NBC change that part of the pilot when it aired, or is there some other explanation for his miraculous recovery that I didn't pick up on?

  • After seeing Hiro's pal, Ando (James Kyson Lee), checking out the pervy action at LasVegasNiki.com, did anyone else go to the site? (Hint: It's not what you'd expect!)

  • And finally, when Claire woke up to find that someone was midway through an autopsy on her own freakin' body (GAH!), do you think it was the local medical examiner's table, or perhaps the laboratory of her eeeeevil daddy (Horned Rim Glasses)?

On The Web : Heroes A Bonafide Hit

On The Web

In an article titled: "Network TV Has Two Bonafide SF Hits" Samuel K. Sloan sings Heroes' praises along with those of CBS' Jericho. Any Heroes fans here watch Jericho?

Quote:

NBC?s ?Heroes? and CBS?s ?Jericho? have struck a nerve with audiences. Both shows are SF, but offer up the right portions of suspense, drama, intrique, mystery and a touch of humor in all the correct measurements. There is a little something for everyone in these two stand-out programs, along with an ensemble casting most shows would kill for.

?Heroes? and ?Jericho? have exceeded their network exec?s expectations and have done extremely well to date, not only for the reasons mentioned above but also because programmers got it right by scheduling them at a time when fans of the varied genres mentioned have few other good viewing options.

On The Web : Why We Need a Hiro

Maybe with all that is going on in the world - people shooting up schools, countries testing nuclear bombs, the constant threat of terrorism - it makes me feel better to watch a show where people can actually make a difference, even if it does take superhuman powers.

I loved it last night when Hiro saved the little girl from being hit by the bus. So far, he is my favorite character - I love his nerdiness, enthusiasm, and especially the comic book.

The Buzz : Ratings - More Of The Same

The Buzz

Last nights ratings were more of the same for Heroes... in other words they ROCKED as usual! Retention is still looking good ... all engines go.

Quote:

NBC?s ?Heroes? is looking like the fall?s hottest new show after winning its time period Monday in key demos for a third straight week and matching its strong premiere score of two weeks ago, according to preliminary affiliate-based nationals from Nielsen.

After ?Deal or No Deal? delivered stronger than usual numbers to open the night for NBC (4.4/12 in 18-49, 15.2 million viewers overall), ?Heroes? (5.9/14 in 18-49, 13.3 million viewers overall) beat all of its broadcast rivals and notched the highest demo rating for any rookie series in the past two weeks. Net?s momentum on the night also transferred to 10 o?clock, where ?Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? (3.8/9 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) was up 12% week to week.

On The Web : Heroes Plagiarism Or Over Reaction?

So Heroes, NBC's new super-hero-ish drama totally ripped us off tonight. Good times. At one point during the show two characters are walking toward or away from a car, much like Trav and G in For Catherine, and one guy says to the other, en media res, as it were, and completing a joke the rest of which we, the audience, didn't hear "Wow, a talking dog." And the other dude laughs.

Might as well have been on their way to a friggin' blockbuster, then stopped by whorebaggery, forced to steal a phone from Matty, not had one of their actresses show up, faked the back of the actress' head with their ex-girfriend and, well, those of you who have seen the flick get the idea.

Might as well just rename the show "For Heroes" or something.

Might as well just cancel the damn show and start running our flick in it's place weekly.

I'm not familiar with the author of this blog's work, but he seems to think he has a legitimate beef. I just finished watching the episode and I'm not even sure which scene he is referring to, but I thought I'd toss this tidbit up here. We like to mix in some odds and ends with the mainstream news stories

The Union Wells Wildcats (my "lovely" school) take on the Bears this week. It's an away game but everyone is going because it's a huge rivalry and all that. I can't say I'm a huge football fan or anything but I guess I'll go, mostly to support Claire.

Our football team is practically worshiped which is fine if you go for that sort of thing, but it just sucks because a lot of the players let it go to their head and think they're invincible or something. Brody Mitchum, the quarterback, walks around like he owns the place. I honestly don't know why Claire gives him the time of day. From what I've seen and heard, he's a complete jerk. But enough !@#%ing, I still gotta find that tape!

If the spoilers prove to be true, we will find out just what kind of "complete jerk" old Brody Mitchum is.. only about half an hour for you east coasters.

So over the summer, I saw the screener of the Heroes pilot and didn't think much of it. The original script for the pilot had been a compact version of what got turned into the first and second episodes, but as we all now know, the second episode had references to New York City being hit with a nuclear bomb, and NBC chickened out and chopped it up into two episodes, hearing ('m told) a backlash for coming out swinging with a terrorist subplot right in the premiere. Lame, right?

...

I wonder who the "inside source" is, this is the first I have heard about NBC "fearing a backlash" for having a terrorist related plot.
