The day after a new episode is always a busy day in terms of Heroes related news and updates. There is the new graphic novel, episode screen caps, next week's promo, random news, forum discussions and of course ratings. As you can see by viewing past news updates regarding Heroes ratings, the show has always delivered the goods when it comes to viewership. Of course, until now there wasn't really any big time competition.
Last night marked the true test of Heroes when it went up against the Fox hit 24. Here is some info on last night's numbers.
Quote: "Heroes" slid a bit in the ratings to earn an 8.5 rating/12 share according to Nielsen Media Research's Fast National numbers. However, "24" only did slightly better, hitting the 8.6/12 mark.
While "24" may have been a winner in terms of ratings, it was "Heroes" who actually pulled in the better audience, Zap2it reported, with a few more viewers. The show also was tops in a key demographic, the 18 to 49s, to lead the night, with Fox finishing a distant third.
At first glance, the numbers aren't bad at all and when you really think about Heroes viewership, the numbers don't mean a thing. I know people who are die hard 24 fans that also love Heroes. They feel more attached to 24 because they have watched it for so long, so they Tivo Heroes. Are those numbers included in the ratings? More importantly, NBC offers free streaming of the latest episode of Heroes from its website. Are those numbers included in the ratings? Heroes is also available for download via iTunes. Are those numbers calculated into the ratings? While it is obvious I disagree with the current rating system and I feel that all methods of viewing by all viewers (not just a tiny percentage) should be taken into account, the fact still remains: it was "Heroes" who actually pulled in the better audience, with a few more viewers. |

Re: Heroes Vs. 24 - The Numbers I know. The rating system is very flawed. I mean, I don't have a box. Do you? (rhetorical if you do, I know you have to keep it hush hush if you do, lol) We all watched last night, or at least recorded it.

Re: Heroes Vs. 24 - The Numbers well they did get the top 18's to 49's slot.
I think they are working on the rating system to add Tivo's and stuff.

Re: Heroes Vs. 24 - The Numbers from nbcumv Well, those that came and watched on Jan 1 were awarded with a boat load of sneak peaks. So it was a great idea

Re: Heroes Vs. 24 - The Numbers Don't forget that Heroes is also occasionally rebroadcast on SciFi. People who want to watch 24 basically have to watch it then. There are other options for Heroes fans, so I'm afraid that might hurt them when people who want to see 24 and Heroes watch 24 and then catch Heroes online or on SciFi. Luckily I have 2 TiVos so I'm set (plus I'm three seasons behind on 24 so I'm just archiving these for now.)
