Here's How...
As of now until January 15th, 2007, we encourage all of you to create and take pictures of public Heroes reference. From the helix symbol scrawled in a book to "Save the cheerleader" graffitied on the side of a building to giant picket signs asking people if they're "on the list"... we'll take them all. We don't care whether you made the artwork or just happened upon it and snapped a photo.
All pictures submitted will be displayed on our gallery and many of the major Heroes forums out there. On January 15th, 2007, we'll pick out our favorite photos and let you all vote on the winners for some special prizes.
But remember: the prizes aren't the point! Mainly, we want to encourage all of you to get out there and let out that inner Tyler Durden. You are an individual snowflake and you are an ordinary person with extraordinary tastes in TV shows.
Here's Why...
Here's the deal folks: there's a lot of us Heroes fans out there. You've all seen the numbers... more than 15 million people tune in for each new episode. The forums are busy and the hype has been huge! There are literally countless news articles about the online support fans give to the show.
Well, it's time to take that love and devotion for you favorite show and bring it out into the real world. If you're an observant Heroes fan, you might've already noticed that our favorite symbols and catch phrases from the show are appearing more and more in everyday life... on street signs, in library books, as tattoos...
We're on a hiatus from Heroes, so it's up to us fans to keep the interest alive! Start spreading the word and give the news some Heroes fandom to talk about!
The Rules...
First of all, if you send us a picture of something that can potentially be viewed as defacement of public property (i.e. graffiti on a wall, the symbol in a library book), we will accept the photo.... however we discourage any defacement of public property so please don't go out and start causing mayhem! If you find some reference already out there, use it! But don't start scribbling the Heroes symbol on the sidewalk. If you take a picture of something that is downright destructive, like keying the symbol into someone's car, we won't even count it! The point is to draw positive attention to Heroes and keep the event fun for everyone.
Other than that, the rules are simple:
- No photo-manipulation - you can tweak the colors a bit, but all content has to be real-world
- Be creative ? the more inventive it is the better
- Have fun!
Some Suggestions...
If you're having trouble getting started, here's some ideas...
-The symbol... anywhere you see it, take a picture of it no matter how ig or small it is.
-Save the cheerleader" and "Are you on the list?"... and noticeable catch-phrase from the show!
-Isaac's paintings... if you're particularly ambitious, see if you can recreate the painting with where people can see it!
-Everything else you can think of! Be creative! The sky's the limit.
Submission...
We encourage everyone to post their pictures for other people to see in the forums. It will help other people get ideas and you guys might even be able to work together on some bigger shows of your Heroes affection!
To officially be counted for the contest, you've got to send us an email with the photo attached to heroesmedia@gmail.com with "Heroes Contest" in the subject. Include you name and any fun information you want fans to know about the photo.
