Wandering Rocks Pub, Cork, Ireland: Ricky explains the heist to Peter while Caitlin, Will and Tuko(?) listen in. They're going after the receipts from a football game that will be in an armored car. Pete's to take out the guards while Ricky's men get the cash. After that, he can have his box. Peter hears Will's voice: Will's going to kill them and take the cash for himself. Peter, not realizing that only he can hear Will's thoughts, calls Will on it. Ricky, Will and Tuko slam Peter against the bar, furious that Peter, who doesn't even know who he is, would slander a long-time member of their crew. Ricky shows Peter a tattoo. They're family. Peter's nothing.

Somewhere in Mexico: Maya and Alejandro are only a few days from the border. Maya, upset by all that she's done, has not eaten or slept. Her feet are blistered. Alejandro wants to stop for a while, to heal and eat. Maya refuses. Alejandro has sworn to help her, so he picks out a car on the street and tries to break in. The noise of his shattering a window draws a lone policeman, who chases them down an alley. At the end of the alley, Alejandro pushes Maya over a fence, but cannot climb over himself before he's caught. Maya watches from behind a van as her brother is taken away.

Somewhere in Las Vegas: Micah and Niki sit inside the open door of their convertible, arguing. Micah doesn't want to leave Las Vegas. Families are supposed to stay together. Niki doesn't see any other way. They need a fresh start and any time he wants to see his father, she'll make sure he does. Until then it's time to say goodbye. Micah gets up suddenly and runs off. They're parked in a graveyard, and Micah stops at one of the graves. It's D.L.'s (Daniel Lawrence).

A Beach: Two lounge chairs are set facing the sea with an ice bucket between them. A woman in one of the chairs wears red hair, big sunglasses and a red bikini holds a drink in one hand and a cell phone in the other. She tells the person on the other end of the phone that “he” is still sleeping. At that point, “he” groans. It's Sylar, in the other chair. He wakes up and demands to know what's going on. The woman, who used to be Candace, but now calls herself Michelle, pulled him out of Kirby Plaza with a sword wound. Eight surgeries later, he's going to live unless he pulls his stitches. Sylar doesn't see any stitches because Michelle does illusions. When Sylar insists on seeing his true surroundings, using Eden's gift to compel Michelle, she reveals the inside of a rough concrete-block storage room. Sylar looks down at the bloody bandage across his chest, tries to get up and screams in pain.

Bennet House, Costa Verde California: Claire sits in her room reading Activating Evolution. Noah knocks and she hastily hides the book. Sandra's making waffles. Noah apologizes for getting angry at the copy shop. He knows how hard it is for all of them, and if she wants to ask anything in the privacy of their home, she can. When she wants to know what they'd do if someone found out about her, he tells her they'd have to leave California and go deeper into hiding, maybe fore go school and work altogether.

Costa Verde High School: Claire ambushes West at his locker. What he saw was a pedicure accident, a bottle of spilled nail polish looking like blood. West doesn't buy it. When she wonders why he's hanging around her house, he claims it was just to lend her the book.

Suresh Apartment, Brooklyn: Matt, asleep in a chair by Molly's bedside, wakes suddenly at a sound in the apartment. He pulls his gun from a drawer and creeps into the kitchen to scare Mohinder. Mohinder's back from Haiti where he's been on assignment, but they're setting him up in a lab in New York. Matt's not happy. He doubts Mohinder's abilities as a spy and worries about trying to take care of both Mohinder and Molly. As Mohinder begins to argue, Molly runs out of her room and hugs him. He promises he's not leaving again. Matt's angry, but Mohinder give him a look that says the decision has been made.

Yamagato Industries, Tokyo: Ando is caught playing a game on his computer at work. His boss is furious. Spending a few months with the CEO doesn't entitle him to goof off. Once the boss leaves, Ando pulls Kensai's sword from a cabinet in Ando's office. He notices that the pommel of the sword has Kanji characters on it saying, “Ando open.” He does and discovers several ancient scrolls, notes from Hiro explaining where he is and what he's doing.

Otsu, Medieval Japan: Kensai lies on the ground, full of arrows while Hiro leans over him, overjoyed to discover Kensai can regenerate. Kensai himself is terrified by the discovery, believing that Hiro is somehow the cause of it. His terror only intensifies when Hiro pulls the remaining arrows from him and he watches the wounds heal. Kensai calls Hiro a devil and backs away from him, taking his armor, mounting his horse and riding away over Hiro's protests.

Wandering Rocks Pub, Cork Ireland: Peter stands in the back room, shouting, “Lightning, Sparks!” trying to make lightning come from his hand. He fails. Caitlin enters, and also wonders how he does it. Peter worries that not knowing will get him killed that night. He can do so many things, but he feels powerless. Caitlin knows it's hard for him. Maybe he's an extraterrestrial escaped from a government facility. She's excited to see him open the box. She'll be there to watch his back. He can trust her because she hasn't told anyone what he can do.

Police Office, Mexico: Alejandro is dragged in, protesting that it's a mistake. There's one other cop in the room eating a sandwich. Alejandro sees a wanted poster with his and Maya's face (what's a Honduran wanted poster doing in Mexico?), but the cop doesn't notice and throws him into a small cell. In the adjoining cell, a young man sits up and comments on Alejandro's appearance. Alejandro claims not to speak English.

Science Class, Costa Verde High School: At the beginning of class, West asks the teacher what would happen if a lizard and a human mated. The teacher takes it as a waste of time, but West persists, wondering if she lost an appendage whether it would grow back. Claire, clearly frightened and upset, gets up and leaves the room.

Yamagato Industries/Medieval Japan: Hiro tells Ando about the swordsmith's daughter (Yaeko). He's in love with her, but recognizes that she, historically, is Kensai's. She and Hiro walk through the forest until he spies Kensai near a tree, cutting himself again and again to watch it heal. He's coming to terms with his ability but has difficulty believing it until Hiro displays his ability to teleport. When he realizes he's unkillable, he's overjoyed. The feudal Japanese are obsessed with duels, and by making the right wagers, he could become richer than the pope. Hiro's horrified, insisting that he has to use his power to become the Kensai of legend. Kensai starts to walk away, but Hiro follows and teleports him to the castle where he will face the second of his trials (the first was the battle of twelve swords): the battle for the Fire Scroll (actually, the Fire Scroll is one part of the five-part Book of Five Rings by the 17th century Japanese warrior Miyamoto Musashi. It is a book on sword fighting). He must face the ninety angry/hungry Ronin (I'd be angry if I were hungry too). Kensai's shocked, but all ninety of them stream out of the castle toward him. Hiro teleports out, and Kensai steps forward visibly nervous.

Costa Verde High School: Outside, on the deserted school grounds, Clair sits crying. West comes up behind her. She turns on him, furious. Of course she's different, but if everyone knew, she'd be carted off to a human zoo where she'd be poke and prodded for the rest of her life. He can tell the world, if he wants, because she's tired of pretending to be something she's not. West tells her to shut up, then lifts her up and carries her into the sky. She's amazed. He's got power too, and she laughs as they fly off over the city.

Outside Pinky's Sportsbook, Cork: Peter distracts the two guards who have come to pick up the money, and Ricky's gang ties them up and hustles them away before the door to the Sportsbook opens. Another guard wheels out a strongbox. Ricky and threatens him with a shotgun, then Will and Tuko take the strongbox. The guard hits an alarm. Ricky doesn't want to shoot, so settles for busting the guard across the chops with the butt of his shotgun. As the gang runs away, two more guards emerge from the building and begin shooting. (Do armed guards make sense in a country where even the police don't carry guns?). Peter, not wanting anyone to get hurt, waves his arm and slides the armored car between the gang and the guards. He and Caitlin look shocked at his capability. She's so shocked that he needs to remind her to drive when he makes it back to the getaway car.

Isaac's Loft, Soho: Mohinder walks in to find people cataloging and storing Isaac's paintings. Bob himself is poring through a published issue of Ninth Wonders. He tells Mohinder that Sylar murdered Isaac, then dismisses the event. Instead, they've turned the loft into a laboratory specifically for Mohinder. The company values Mohinder so greatly that their people will be keeping a close watch on him, anticipating his every need. Mohinder protests that he works alone. Bob disagrees. He's part of the family now and supervision is in his, and their, best interest. Bob gives him a creepy smile and chuckle, then walks away. Mohinder gulps. Spying just got a whole lot harder.

Outside Otsu, Medieval Japan: Yaeko and Hiro wait for Kensai's return. She's struck by Hiro's faith in Kensai. She's confused because sometimes Kensai seems like a bum, but other times, like in the cherry blossom forest. . . she leaves the thought unfinished when Kensai appears on the road. Kensai holds up the fire scroll, and Yaeko rushes to him, overjoyed. They kiss, (an open display of affection in feudal Japan between unmarried people? Seems unlikely), and Hiro looks sad.

New Orleans: Niki and Micah climb out of a cab and cross the street to a house. She warns him not to use his powers. He doesn't understand what's so great about normal and doesn't want her to go. She'll be back. She's leaving him with family, so it might be fun. She has to do “this.” That doesn't comfort Micah. She always says that before she does something bad. Niki cries, then hugs him and they ring the house's doorbell. The door opens, and Lt. Uhura welcomes them to New Orleans.

Mexico: Maya strolls into the police station and tells them she's there to get her brother. The fine is 2500 pesos, but Maya only has 14 American dollars. She needs her brother because she's sick and they're traveling to America in search of a cure. The police threaten to call the border police because she has no papers. In desperation, she pulls down the wanted poster and shows the cops that she's the woman on it. They try to handcuff her, and their rough treatment brings on her blackeye. They fall down. In his cell, Alejandro senses something wrong. The kid in the cell beside him collapses, and Alejandro recognizes the symptoms. He calls for Maya, who is frantically digging keys from the pockets of the downed policemen. She unlocks his cell, her eyes weeping black goo. Alejandro accuses her of killing everyone on purpose. She does not deny it, but insists that she needed him. She squats on a bench outside the cell while he pulls the contamination from her. The police and other prisoner cough and stir, clearly still alive. The other prisoner begs them to take him with them. He has a car. (Wouldn't he be too preoccupied with what just happened to worry about escape?). They rush outside and climb into the car, which just happens to be Claire's Rogue.

Wandering Rocks Pub, Cork: The gang, minus Tuko, celebrates over the open money case. Suddenly Will pulls a gun and demands they hand it over. Ricky thinks it's a joke at first, but Will insists. Peter appears from the back room. He was right. Will congratulates him, then shoots him twice in the chest. With Peter out of the way, Will demands the money again. Ricky refuses, but before Will can shoot him, Will is lifted off the ground and thrown against the wall. The gun falls from his hand and he stares wide-eyed as Peter, bloody, rises from the floor. Peter pulls back his shirt and stares, amazed, as his body pushes out the bullets and heals. He then turns furious, using his telekinesis to strangle Will against the wall until Caitlin pleads with him. Pete seems to snap out of a rage and drops Will, who scrambles out of there as fast as he can.

Forest outside Otsu, Medieval Japan: Hiro writes another scroll to Ando. He's ready to come home, confident that Kensai has turned himself around. Kensai and Yaeko act affectionate in the background until Hiro's ready to say goodbye. Kensai doesn't want him to leave. Hiro's his conscience. Hiro insists, and when they walk away, he concentrates, trying to return to his own time. He fails. He returns to Kensai and Yaeko, who are laughing and playing under a cherry blossom tree. They're happy to see he's reconsidered.

Concrete Shed: Sylar sits in front of a cup, trying and failing to move it. Michelle enters and places a plate of eggs in front of him. Sylar's furious. He can't move anything, he can't freeze anything, everything he's worked for is gone. Michelle thinks it's because of his injuries. His back his healed, but his chest still needs some time. When he's better, she can help him reacquire his powers and she can make it fun. She can take him anywhere, she can be anything he wants her to be. She creates illusions of a Japanese geisha, a pair of blond twins, and of Sylar himself. Sylar rises from the table, looking fascinated, appearing to accept the offer, but when he's close to her and has her distracted, he picks up his cup and smashes it across her head, knocking her to the floor. He's going to get new abilities, alright, starting with hers. A few minutes later, bloody to the elbows, he stands over a big, black-haired woman who lies on the floor. He thinks it serves her right for pretending to be something she's not. He concentrates, trying to create the illusion of Maui, or London, or Japan, growing more furious when each attempt fails. Frantic, he runs from the shed only to find himself alone in a forested valley many miles across.

Wandering Rocks Pub: Peter sits still while Caitlin finishes tattooing him with the same symbol Ricky wears. Ricky himself comes in, a little unsteady on his pins, a couple of empty glasses in one hand and Peter's box in his other. He hands it over. Peter's one of them now, and they have no secrets from each other. After Ricky goes, Peter hesitates. When Caitlin presses him, he admits he's not sure he wants to know who he was. He almost killed Will and only Caitlin stopped him. Caitlin has faith that he's a good soul, but if he's so worried about what's in the box, he should leave it be. He does, and they kiss. Unnoticed, the tattoo on his arm turns into the half-helix symbol and then fades into his skin.

A Beach: Claire and West talk powers. She feels pain, just not for very long. They get playful and kiss. While they do so, Claire notices two marks on his trap neck - the tracking tag implanted by the company. Two years ago, when they were living in St. Louis, West was riding his bike to school when a man with horn-rimmed glasses stepped out of a bush and called his name. The next thing he knows, he wakes up in his bed a day later. Claire's disturbed by the news.

Isaac's Loft, Soho. Bob hands Mohinder a vial of blood. Then his cell phone rings and he has to take it outside. It's Niki. She's waiting in Bob's office and wants assurance Bob can cure her. In return, Bob wants something from her. While Bob's out, Mohinder calls Noah and leaves the lab to poke through crates full of paintings. There are only a few left. The others have been shipped somewhere. He's nervous. They're watching his every move. He's in over his head. Noah reassures him that so long as Noah lives, he'll be okay. Mohinder finds painting number 8 in the series of 8. He snaps a picture of it with his phone and sends it to Noah. The series doesn't end well: it's a picture of Noah on the ground with a bullet through one eyeglass while Claire stands nearby kissing a man's with her eyes closed. Claire herself enters the room and Noah quickly hides the picture, although he can't keep the shock from his face. They stare at each other until Claire says goodnight and leaves.
