I am doing this commentary without watching over again so please forgive me as it might not be as through as it can be and as always it might be biased.
Though I also I guess I should but this disclaimer in, read further and you will see why...
My thoughts are my own. I am not getting paid for this commentary and I have made no endorsement deals.
I'm a Petrelli fangirl. If you haven't realized this by now however, well, lol...Yeah.
That said. Wow. Didn't Peter kickbutt? Was I the only person very glad that he was able to use his name? Was it among the cutest things ever when that guy said, "Peter." The tone and all and Peter peeked up and was like "Is that my name?" Well, we are a little ahead of ourselves now, are we? But I had to say it.
So Peter Bourne, is at least Peter Bourne. hee hee and wow did Peter Bourne kick butt well not after Peter himself got beated up because he didn't know where the ipods are at. This little exchange made me curious. I am surprised they didn't dub that line about the ipods over after NBC and Apple had a big fight over iTunes downloads. Did Apple give NBC a lot of money for that product placement? Since Claire's stolen car has not yet been found?
The man that beaten Peter up had a sister named Caitlin who felt sorry for Peter and decided to clean up his wounds. Probably thought he was quite sexy in that flannel shirt too. I know I did.
LOL, childlish fangirl giggling aside. This scene was great! Perhaps Caitlin's kindness did it, maybe he made her feel a similar way as did Claire. Now since Peter and Caitlin appear to be to the road of kissy kissy, some Paire fans will use this piece of evidence as proof that they were denied a couple made in heaven. Uh, well...it was the kindness, the sweetness, and well, Nathan was destined to be Claire's father since day one, and I thought Peter well was busy drooling over Simone and saw Claire as a sweet kid. Ah, I digresss.
Well, Peter heals to Caitlin's atonishment. A familiar line previous mouthed by Audrey Hanson (where is that woman?) is uttered by her, "There isn't a mark on you."
Caitlin continues to tell Peter that ipods were supposed to go to a big mobster dude and that is why her brother beaten him up. Poor Peter after all the trouble his goofy mother, which I will get to later, must have done to keep Linderman away from him, he is not involved with the Irish Mob. Well at least he is away from poor Maya the virus girl and the Company and their severe ideal of benefitial genocide.
After Caitlin leaves, Peter discovers that he can phase out of those ropes.
I was waiting for Peter to just break the knot with Niki's strength, but, but, having Peter phase out of them answered the yes, DL was close enough to Peter for him to absorb it at Kirby Plaza. Which, makes me curious back to when the Haitian was on the roof in Volume 1: Chapter 16: Unexpected....Our favorite Haitian should have been close enough as well...Does Peter already have to ability? And does the Haitian and Peter have the ability to cancel each other out? And that is why Peter and The Haitian didn't erase each other's memories at contact? Or could it be something else? Some kind of control? A goof like the Shanti age hoo ha? Or do we not know every thing about this yet? The Graphic novel "It Takes a Village" hinted that The Haitian didn't just have powers of memory removal but of memory manipulation. The Haitian is in the new novel as well, and I will get to that soon.
Now, free Peter is able to protect Caitlin from the Irish mobsters that come back and decide to take her in leu of the ipods. First Peter electrocutes one of the flunkies and then uses telekitnetics to send one flying. Turns out this person was a the big bosses beloved Sonny boy, and well, now Peter made things worse. This is when Caitlin's brother makes Peter an offer he cannot refuse...
Help with another job to make it right, or he burns the puzzle box, the box with Peter's indentity. Hmmm...and that necklace. Does the Haitian know where Peter is or did something else plant that? (More on the Haitian below)
Matt, the new detective, the man who can now cross the yellow tape...
Poor Kaito, gone so soon, and without telling us his ability. Hopefully a future episode will show us. Like chapter 8, but it's only chapter 2 and Matt and friends are investigating. Ando is the wittness and Matt asks him about the symbol on the picture. It's a Kanji and it means "Godsend" and it was on Kensei's sword, a beloved hero of Hiro's. Well, Matt says he needs to talk to Hiro and Ando says, "Well, so do I." Poor Ando.
Well, fingerprints were found on the picture, and since Angela stole socks, she is in the system and it's a match.
"Angela Petrelli!?" Matt exclaims. "Let's talk to her."
So Angela is brought in for questioning. The symbol was also the crest of her late hubby's law firm. And Matt tries to pick her brain. You would think that Matt would learn his lesson after what happened with Peter. But hey, he didn't put two and two together. Do I think that Angela has a mind reading power? Nah. Or I think she would try to read his mind as well. She just made four when Matt turned a phrase she was thinking into words.
"Because we did something bad and someone wants revenge."
"Did someone want revenge?"
"Get out of my head!"
Hee hee
But let's not forget the funnest line of the night.
"Well, I don't need the money. And I'm not sleeping with him. Well not for a long time." ~ Angela Petrelli
Kaito and Angela were lovers. Is this another hint? Could Hiro be son number 3? Or is Angela just well...around. Hee hee
This is just turning into a soap opera. But a yummy one. I guess until evil twins and floating corspes run about I am okay.
Angela wants her lawyer and Nathan shows up. He still has the beard but he looks like he at least sobered up some. Poor Nathan. He really blames himself for what happened to Peter. But I would like to know. On the record, how did Peter die? I mean, I doubt the official word is "Peter got himself blown up." Seriously? How did he die? Will we find out? Why do I care so much? Umm...Petrelli fangirl? Geez. But still...come on now! The Petrellis are important part of the city and Nathan recently gave up a seat on Congress, so what is the official word?
Nathan and Matt recognize each other and they exchange some short talk. Matt offers to show Nathan to his mother and Nathan declines the offer because he is sure Angela doesn't want to see him. Matt wonders why she asked for him then.
"Because she doesn't have anyone else."
I suppose since Nathan scared off Heidi, she is perhaps all he has too. Well the sad exchange is interrupted by Angela screaming.
"Where is she!?" Nathan shouts.
Matt goes, "It can't be", and then brings a frantic Nathan to where Angela is.
"Mom! Mom!" I couldn't tell if it was that or "Ma! Ma!" but wow, as much as those two are playing the blame game at the moment, Nathan does love his mother and I'm not sure his psyche could accept anymore lost. He lost both his father and Peter within a year's time. After Matt was finally able to open the door, Nathan goes to his mother's side.
"It's alright Ma. I'm here. It's all right."
From the scene I thought perhaps Angela was seeing some kinda vision. My belief that she has some time of clairvoyant ability and that Peter had the dream in "Six Months Ago" about Nathan's accident from an ability absorbed by Angela. Though, what would explain those scratch marks? Which I saw at second glance. (I did watch a few scenes over). Come on already! We need to know her power. Spoiler sites have been taunting the spoiler hungry since this spring. Though, I can proudly say that I haven't read a spoiler in a couple weeks now and am trying to be a good girl. Time shall tell if that continues
Anyway yes, to go a little off topic, I do not believe that clairvoyant type dream was from Charles because they meant after that party to my estimate. At the party, Peter told Heidi and Nathan that he was thinking about Hospice care. He didn't actually have that job with Charles yet. Though, Charles definitely has something, which allowed Peter to go back through his dreams. Perhaps the new theme this year, of similar yet different powers?
The Wonder Twins
Actually I like them. Poor Maya. A reason graphic novel suggested that her virus could help cure cancer and other viruses. It was similar to something Claire said in Lizards. Perhaps she can help people with regeneration. But at what cost?
Alejandro was able to save border cross lady, but the fear remained. Psychic lady saw that Maya could kill the devil.
The major hint of the volume? The man worse than the Boogie man?
Hiro and Kensei...
The battle of Twelve Swords was in fact Hiro, but Kensei has a power! He can come back from the dead! Not exactly the same as Claire's ability though because Claire would have needed that arrow out, I would imagine. She can regenerate or is it a hint for Claire's power's potiential? Or does Claire have a limit was this a hint that Claire's limit will be found.
Noah Bulter warned Claire that the Company would find her limit. Will the show tell us? Will they cause the fans to cry their little eyes out? Could the show be this cruel? Of course they could. Not that I want to think about it. Speaking about more things I do not want to think about. Noah brings out a painting with a dead Kaito. A set of eight. Oy. Seven more dead people? That is cruel. We didn't get that many last year did we? Let's see...hmm...yeah, I think I remember Mohinder saying in "Godsend" that nine or so died, but it wasn't all people we knew and loved. I guess that is some demented silver lining.
So what about this conspiracy and double, and triple agents? I love it.
Mohinder and Bob the Golden Boy. Mohinder and Noah. Noah and The Haitian. Love it! Love it! Love it!!!
The scene where The Haitian and Mohinder were talking and then seconds later it was Mohinder and Bob...omg. Sweet doesn't even cover half out it!
Graphic Novel Commentary Add-on : Chapter 53 Crossroads
Like in "It Takes a Village", the Haitian tells a story, but instead to Noah, he tells Mohinder. I'm not sure if Mohinder kept these memories, the scene with Bob hinted otherwise. But Mohinder did know about the plan for the Haitian.
They talk about memories and fathers. Though both their fathers died tragedy, one of suicide and one of murder, the Haitian tells Mohinder that he should be glad that he had such a loving father.
The Haitian looked for forgiveness. He tells Mohinder that he went to Loa, and
said, "I am not my father and given the chance I will prove myself worthy...where he did not."
His father's spirit appears and congratulates the Haitian for he remembered the ground.
