Heroes 1.2: Don?t Look Back.
An alley in Manhattan. Replay from last episode, with Peter Petrelli throwing himself off a building and Nathan, his brother, flying up to catch him. Mohinder Suresh provides the voice over, asking about evolution, God and free choice. Nathan loses his grip on Peter.

A hospital room, Manhattan. A bandaged Peter wakes up with a gasp when Nathan touches his shoulder. Peter seems unsure what happened. Nathan tries to convince him that he tried to commit suicide and landed on a fire escape. Peter remembers Nathan flying. Nathan?s not happy.

Bennet house, Odessa. The train fire made the front page. Claire reads it and then asks her father if she can find out who her real parents are, ?who they are, what they can do.? She covers the slip badly. Mr. Bennet tries to dissuade her.

Chandra Suresh?s apartment, Brooklyn. Mohinder enters to find an man in coveralls working under a side table. He claims to be an exterminator, but Mohinder sees some electronics down by the baseboard. The exterminator was planting a bug, not trying to get rid of them. They fight. The exterminator pulls a gun, but claims that he doesn?t want to hurt Mohinder, and that they?re both after the same thing. He leaves, but runs into a woman in the hall. Mohinder tackles him, knocking the gun to the floor. The woman picks up the gun and holds it on them. The exterminator tries his cover story, but she notices that he?s wearing a shoulder holster. He throws Mohinder at her and escapes. Mohinder and Eden MacKenzie introduce themselves.

Times Square, New York. Hiro walks down the street, talking to everyone. He notices a news stand with a copy of a comic book, ?9th Wonders? that has an artist?s conception of Hiro on the front cover. He pages through it, seeing bits of his own recent past, until the newsstand clerk demands money. Hiro gives him some Yen, and runs off before the clerk realizes it. The comic has the address of the creator inside the back cover. It?s Isaac Mendez.

Isaac?s studio, Manhattan. Simone walks in. Isaac tells Simone that he had a dream in which he saw New York destroyed by a bright light. Simone thinks it?s the drugs. Isaac thinks he saw the future, and he?s painted the image of it on his floor: New York skyline dominated by a huge mushroom cloud.

A high school hallway, Odessa. Claire is chatting with Brody (Football QB) when Zach (nerd videographer) interrupts. Zach needs to talk to her, but Claire is uninterested. Then the principal comes up to them and announces that the local sheriff and fire chief want to talk to Claire and the other cheerleaders.

Garage studio, Las Vegas. Niki wakes up to a ringing phone. Micah leaves a message, wondering where his mom is. Niki finds the loan shark thugs lying on the floor, very gruesomely dead, one with a shard of mirror in his neck. Niki grabs the video camera and leaves, but not before seeing her mirror image with blood all over itself, urging her to be quiet about what?s happened. She calls her son to tell him she?ll be there soon, then gets curious and stops on the road to see what the camera recorded. At the moment the thug slugs her, the playback erupts in static and Niki hears the men screaming. Niki?s phone rings. No time seems to have passed, but Niki is now dressed differently and parked in a large, empty lot. Micah is on the phone wondering where his mother has been for the four hours since she said she?d pick him up in a few minutes.

Texas Tina?s house, Las Vegas. Niki arrives. Tina?s upset that she took so long until Niki tells her about the thugs and their fate. Niki doesn?t know what happened, but she thinks she might have had something to do with it. Tina thinks it might be ?D.L.,? but Niki says he wouldn?t risk coming back and being caught by the cops. Tina says she should go to the police, but Niki decides to cover up what happened and run for it.

Chandra Suresh?s apartment, Brooklyn. Eden MacKenzie knew Chandra, and Mohinder tells her about his death, Mr. Bennet?s appearance in Madras and Mohinder?s cab. Eden used to share her food with Chandra sometimes and he would tell her about his theories and his map. She brought him a copy of Darwin?s Origin of the Species, and says that he was worried he was being watched.

Football field, Odessa. Claire and the other cheerleaders are lined up on the sidelines as practice takes place out on the field. The fire chief and sheriff are looking for the girl from the train fire, and she looked like Claire. Jackie, the girl next to Claire steps forward and admits she?s the one, and then happily accepts the congratulations and admiration that the other cheerleaders heap on her. Claire goes to the sheriff and asks if the saved man lived. He did. Claire leaves, and Zach catches up to her to tell her he?s lost the tape of her suicide plunge. Claire is starting to panic when Brody slams into her. Claire is thrown to the ground with her neck twisted 180 degrees. Before anyone can get a good look, she twists it back and gets up, telling everyone that she?s fine.

Niki?s house, Las Vegas. While Micah retrieves some of his belongings, Niki goes to the garage and finds it?s been cleaned, with no sign of the bodies or the bed/webcam setup. Instead, there?s a set of keys hanging from the light switch. Niki?s reflection in a nearby mirror smiles and nods to a convertible across the road. Niki takes the keys to the car and discovers the ownership in her name in the glove box. On the back of the ownership is a heart-shaped note telling her to follow the map she?ll find in the trunk. The map is on top of the garbage-bagged bodies of the two thugs.

Hospital room, Manhattan. Peter?s drawing stick figures on a pad. His mother arrives, worried that his roof jump was a suicide attempt. Although she had told him his father died of a heart attack, it was actually suicide. He had some depressive disorder, and had tried to kill himself twice before. Now she?s worried that Peter?s showing the first signs of it: delusions of grandeur.

Isaac?s studio, Manhattan. Hiro arrives and finds the door open, a half-completed comic page on a table, a strange ?script f/s? symbol on a painting, and a gun. He picks up the gun and sees a trail of blood that leads to Isaac?s body, which is missing the top of its skull and its brain. The police bust in on him, and Hiro faints.

A house, California. Matt Parkman, beat cop, mans the police line around the scene of a murder. He?s just failed the detective?s exam. Two FBI investigators arrive, and just after they go into the house, Matt hears a little girl?s voice. He follows it inside, past the investigators and a crowd of forensics people. A woman has been nailed to a banister by a scatter of assorted silverware. A man has been frozen solid at the table, and is missing the top of his skull and his brain. Matt still hears the girl?s voice, and also hears voices from other people around him. He hears one of the investigators comparing the scene to another one left by a killer named Sylar. Matt follows the girl?s voice to a hidden panel under the stairs. The girl in there is still alive, but terrified and although Matt can still hear her voice, her lips are not moving.

Chandra/Mohinder Suresh?s apartment, Brooklyn. Chandra was working on an equation that would let him track gene migration and predict where ?special? people would appear. The phone rings, but no one is there when the answering machine picks up. Eden notices there are other messages, and when she tries to play them back, she notices that Chadra?s pet lizard, also named Mohinder, is not in his cage. While they look for the lizard, they hear a taped conversation between Chandra and Mr. Sylar. Chandra helped Sylar, patient zero, discover his potential and now Sylar says that he?s stopped trying to control his ?hunger.? Mohinder and Eden find the lizard, and when they put him back in his cage, Mohinder notices a USB drive half buried in the gravel. Mohinder examines the data on the drive, and the same script f/s symbol appears on the screen as Hiro saw in Isaac?s studio.

Poolside behind a house, California. Matt?s pulled outside by the FBI. A pool hose makes the same symbol as Mohinder?s data. The one investigator pressed him for information on how he knew where the girl was. When Matt, who picks up some of her thoughts, doesn?t come up with a realistic explanation and drops Sylar?s name, she arrests him.

Road, outside Las Vegas. Niki?s followed the map into the desert with Micah asleep in the back of the car. When she stops, she finds a shovel stuck into the sand, waiting for her. She begins to dig and finds that there is already a body under a shallow layer of sand. It looks like it?s been there for some time.

Bennet house, Odessa. Mr. Bennet is watching some video footage on a portable player. Claire comes into the room, and he tells her that he?s arranged for her to get help finding her birth parents. It may take a while. Claire leaves the room, happy. Mr. Bennet goes back to watching his video, which is the one Zach had shot showing Claire falling eighty feet and getting up unhurt.

Hospital rooftop, Manhattan. Peter stands on the wall at the edge of the roof. Nathan arrives. He knew about their father?s depression and suicide. Peter?s furious he was never told, but doesn?t believe he?s crazy. He threatens to jump unless Nathan admits that he flew. Nathan hesitates, but Peter seems serious about his threat. Nathan finally tells Peter that they both flew, that he lost control when he caught Peter and they both fell, but then at the last moment before they hit, Peter flew too. Peter thinks he?s being lied to again, and he storms toward Nathan. Nathan points where Peter?s walking, and Peter looks down to see that he has stepped off the retaining wall around the roof, but is still about four feet off the ground, hovering. The realization causes him to fall, but Peter?s overjoyed at being vindicated.

Isaac?s studio, Manhattan. The police, who bring in a Japanese translator, are grilling Hiro. Hiro convinces them to call Ando in Tokyo. When they do, Ando is amazed to hear Hiro?s voice. Hiro has been missing for five weeks. Hiro is stunned and checks his watch, which show October 2nd. He?s been gone only two days. The police produce a newspaper with a story indicating that Nathan has won the election by a landslide. It?s dated November 7th. The police are about to grill him about this when there?s a bright flash. Hiro turns to the window in time to see most of New York crumble before a shockwave. He closes his eyes, teleporting out of there before the blast can reach him, and reappears on the Tokyo subway.

Hospital room, Manhattan. We see Peter?s stick-figure drawing. It?s a crude representation of the scene on the roof, drawn before it happened. Mohinder talks about man choosing how to face his destiny.
