Graphic Novel Chapters 108 and 109: Sum Quod Sum
and
Volume 3: Chapter 7: Eris Sum Quod
Chapters 108 and 109 of the Graphic Novel center on Elle who was fired from Primatech and is offered an opportunity to join Pinehearst.
Elle is tired of Companies, and decides to sit on the offer until she talks to Noah Bennet, but she is having a hard time getting a hold of him.
Instead she decides to go to London to find Claude Rains, the invisible man. Knowing it would be easier to track him while it is raining, Elle decides to track him while it rains, but since she been having trouble with her power lately, she ends up electrifying herself and Claude.
It appears that Claude had two student, Lee and Gabrielle. Lee and Gabrielle are nearby and go to the aid of Claude, but Claude asks them to help Elle as well.
The trio take Miss Bishop over to what appears to be an hotel, complete with a jazzuci, but we will talk about that later. Once Elle awakes Claude asks her about her partner. Frustrated Elle explains that she told him that she doesn't have a partner. She left the Company and that she was here because she needs help.
Claude agrees to help her but stressed that if he does, it will be his way, or the highway, or well, more accurately:

Nice reference to Volume 1: Chapter 16: Distractions. So London is where Claude took off to after he took off on Peter. Hopefully those pigeons can go back to feeding themselves.
Elle agrees, but before they can begin, she decides to relax in the jazzuci, only for Lee and Gabrielle to think it would be wise to join her. Elle tries to warn them, but the stupids get nearly electrocuted and blame her and tell her to get lost. Umm...what were they expecting?
Dishearten, Elle decides to leave. Claude tries to talk her out of leaving, telling her that he would speak to Lee and Gabrielle, but Elle says that leaving is the best thing to do.
Not knowing what to do, she shows up at the Bennett house. She doesn't find Noah nor Claire, but Lyle was there so she decided to shock him. Poor Lyle.
This part leads the story to where Eris Quod Sum begins. Where Elle begs Claire for help. They are both quite interested in Pinehearst, wondering if that Company can help them. Elle believes that Claire is perfect. Claire disagrees saying that she can no longer feel pain. Elle who is in constant pain wishes she had that problem, the two of them decided to head to New Jersey to check out Pinehearst.
Over at Pinehearst, Peter has proven that as corrupted and deranged Primatech can be, Pinehearst is much worse.
The leader: The undead Arthur Petrelli. Not only is he undead in the matter of not being dead, his vampireness continues in the form of being about to take the powers of others.
One notorious example was taking Adam Monroe's power. Since Adam Monroe is about 400 years old, the lost of his power killed him. We watched in special effect glory of dear old Adam age in front of our eyes. It was sad to see Adam go.
After Gabriel, also known as Sylar awaken Peter from his drug-induced coma in the previous episode, Peter decided to go to Pinehearst for answers. Before doing so he went and put Sylar into a drug induced coma instead.
Mama Angela in this episode wills Gabriel to free himself to save Peter.
Because yes, Peter got himself in deep you know what.
It was not a warm homecoming for Peter and Arthur, Daddy dearest is power crazy!
Either he is sure Peter's vision of a terrible future is false, or he doesn't give a flying frak and just wants to rule the rule. To do so he informs Peter that he made him take his powers. Which was a bunch of hooha because all Peter did was ask about Angela's coma. The real reason of course, as the deranged Mohinder suggested soon later was that Peter is the ideal candidate to test out the new blend of the formula.
Peter tries to get Mohinder to see the light. Just like the devastated Mohinder fan who is writing this blog, Peter noticed some sanity in Future Mohinder's plight. Sure he did look like a Monster, but he was acting within some reason. But of course Peter's attempts of preaching redemption was instead perceived to be reminders to Mohinder that he needed Arthur's help not to turn to a creature from an bad sci-fi movie. Not realizing that he is probably making things worse for himself by staying with Pinehearst. True Mohinder lost some skin cells, but so far he looks like a human not a Mutant Lizard. I wanted to scream for Mondo Gecko and asked if he saw Michaelanglo down in the sewer.
Then Monhinder talked Maya, that did the first smart thing in ages after letting Arthur take her power, that is, pocket a fake passport because last time she hopped a fence, and get away from this crazy place.
But I have to rewind just a bit. Since after talking to Angela in a trip, Gabriel goes to Pinehearst to save Peter. Angela called him her favorite son, a title she used on Peter before in "Don't Look Back" and later Arthur restated that Peter is her favorite son, in fact according to Arthur, Angela once tried to drown Gabriel in the bathtub until he stopped him. Is that true, or just lies? Gabrielle didn't seem to be so sure, but he told Arthur that Angela, his mother was the only person that accepted him for who he is. I am thinking if Angela really did try to kill Gabriel, it was a moment of temporary insanity caused by that nasty ass dream. Which I would like to see. Wrong? Yes. But at least perhaps she when and send Gabriel away, instead of trying again.
But then it makes me think, like in the Theban Plays. Did Angela in her attempt to stop Gabriel, create his dark future? Like when Laius went to see the Oracle that told him that his son Oedipus would kill him so he sent him away where he grew up, not knowing who he was and killed him? I think yes. Damn those butterflies!
I am sure we will see more on this next episode's flashback episode. Where we will also find out more about Nathan's accident...remember that Arthur ended up "dead" not much later? Hmm...but that is for another blog.
Well, Gabriel showed up to save Peter. Mohinder attacked Gabriel, and Mohinder made slight comment about Chandra being the one that betrayed him. Hmm...back in "Parasite" Sylar also made a comment about Chandra being the "murder". Hmm...Next episode better give us some insights! Yes, Mohinder go follow that yellow brick road and get your brain back. Is it too late?
Well, after Peter leaves and spies on Mohinder and Maya, he decides to go back to help Gabriel.
Gabriel is quite surprised that Peter came back.
"It's what brothers do." he says, or something like that. And Petrelli fan girls every where grin and celebrate.
Peter asks Gabriel if Arthur took his powers, no, Daddy dearest did not. Arthur claimed that Angela wanted to use Gabriel as a weapon, but Arthur is doing the same thing. And Gabriel probably figures that too, but is curious. He wants to know the other side perhaps. He then throws Peter out the window using his power.
Luckily Claire and Elle were nearby.
Both Claire and Elle are concerned that Peter isn't healing. Peter tells them how "he took his powers". I am like "Yay, now Claire will get away from that place." But Elle, who is in so much pain decides to enter the Pinehearst building anyway. Ack! Her fate? Two more episodes to find out.
Claire takes Peter to his apartment and calls Nathan. Nathan who got saved from Mohinder's spider-nest from Claire's adoptive father Noah. Meredith's comment about Nathan's weakness for blonds was amusing. Tracy also thought it was amusing about how Claire's life is a big soap opera. She don't know the half of it.
Nathan takes Claire's call promising not to tell anyone where she is or where he was going.
Nathan and Tracy show up at Peter's apartment.
Nathan worriedly calls her name and Claire runs to him and the two hug.
"What's going on?" he asked.
Her answer. She steps away. She sees Tracy and becomes alarmed, but Nathan eases her fears.
Nathan sees Peter and rushes to him. "Peter? Why aren't you healing?"
"I don't have my powers any more Nathan. Dad took them."
"Dad? Pete, Dad's dead."
Nope. He isn't.
"But I saw it."
Hmm...does he mean more than just the funeral?
"Where is dad?"
Peter won't answer.
Nathan asking again.
Same response.
"Pinehearst", Claire replies.
And then Peter proceeds to give Claire the look of death.
Peter tries to convince Nathan not to go to Pinehearst. And after some hesitation Nathan agrees. There are other ways to stop Pinehearst he says.
But Tracy doesn't buy the bull crap.
Nathan is going to Pinehearst, Tracy mentions that she is on their payroll. Hmm...
But what is Nathan's plan?
Hmm..
Best episode of the season! So excited for next episode, even if SNL Presidential Bash is going to make us wait an extra week!
